Established in 1984, in Dublin, Ireland, Precision Software began its life as a transportation management software software company, specializing in multi-modal, multi-carrier shipping, trade compliance, and international trade management. Originally Precision had an AS/400 product, later moving to a multi-platform product. At time of QAD purchase, company claimed 900+ customer sites in 55 countries. Precision's main product is TRAXi3.
Precision had a partnership with QAD going back many years prior to the September, 2006 acquisition. QAD spent $14.5M cash to acquire Precision. It was reported that Precision's founder, Brendan O'Donoghue, retired upon completion of the transaction.
