Company was started in 1979 as Key Systems by Richard Lilly and his son Michael Lilly. The company began as custom programming shop in Marathon, Florida, in the Keys. First big manufacturing forays were for the job shop and make to order manufacturing companies. At the time, most all manufacturing software applications were based on a more classic make-to-stock model. They coined this new manufacturing solution Manufacturing Control System, a very different model from the standard APICS/MRP model of the day.
